VW AND AUDI OIL LEAK
VW and Audi Oil Leaks are not always visible. There may not be a spot on the garage floor and you may not have a burning smell. What do you do ?
An engine oil leak is not something to ignore. Running an engine low on oil can cause internal damage. You may not get an Add Oil or Low Oil light to warn you that your oil level is low. The reason is due to your vehicle under shield. It is a large piece of plastic that basically catches any oil or coolant leaks under your vehicle. We recently had a Volkswagen Atlas client in for service and factory maintenance. A slow oil leak completely covered their under shield and they had no idea. Thankfully we were able to identify and repair the oil leak.

- Upper timing cover
- Lower timing cover
- Turbo (turbocharger)
- Oil cooler
- O rings and gaskets
Gravity takes over and an engine oil leak heads for the ground. This means it coats anything along the way. Hoses, gaskets, o rings, water pumps, etc. Petroleum makes things swell and can create an additional leak. All of this means more money in automotive repairs. We recommend oil services for VW and Audi vehicles every 5,000 miles. This allows consistent inspection to identify any problems that come up. Stay ahead of major repairs with routine maintenance !
To recap, an oil leak can create more problems if it is not addressed. Do not depend on your dash warning light. You need to know how to manually check the oil level in your vehicle if you have a dipstick. Know how to read your MMI if you drive an Audi.
