Low coolant in your Volkswagen and Audi can lead to engine problems. Let Das Autohaus help !

ADDING COOLANT TO YOUR VW AND AUDI.  It only lasts for so long if you have a coolant leak.  Coolant, also known as antifreeze, is what keeps your engine cool and from overheating.  Run it low and the engine cannot cool itself.  As a result, this can lead to engine damage.

There are multiple components within your Volkswagen and Audi cooling system including:

  • radiator
  • condenser
  • water pump and thermostat
  • multiple hoses and pipes
  • heater core

Many times you may not even know that you have a coolant leak.  The underside of your import vehicle has (or should have) a shield that protects your engine and transmission from road debris.  That shield “catches” fluid and it often leaks out of the back and onto the roadway as you are driving. Unless you monitor your coolant temperature gauge on the dash, you may have no idea that your antifreeze is low.  Until the warning light comes on.  IF IT COMES ON.  Familiarize yourself with what your coolant overflow bulb looks like and how to tell if the level is low.

If you notice that you have a coolant leak, it is best to address it before your VW or Audi overheats.  HOT temps are coming and your vehicle will be under more stress as a result.
