Low coolant is NOT a good thing …. and we see it often on VW and Audi vehicles that come into our repair shop. Temps may be cool outside but your engine can still overheat if coolant level gets too low.  While evaporation can sometimes play a part in your having low coolant levels, the possibility of a coolant leak is definitely there. Whether it is a hose that has failed due to age or contamination from an oil leak or maybe a water pump or radiator has failed, the loss of coolant is an important issue and is one that needs to be addressed before it’s too late.
