VW AND AUDI BRAKES

Is it time to replace the brakes on your Volkswagen or Audi ?

Brakes are an extremely important part of your German vehicle and it is important to address front brake and rear brake concerns before they become a safety issue.

Brake discs can build up surface rust after a heavy rain or after driving in water and high moisture areas.  If you ever notice an orange tinge to your brake rotor, that is surface rust that will typically “burn off” after you drive a few minutes and apply the brake as normal.   If you ever hear brake squeal or grinding in your VW or Audi, it is time to have your brakes inspected by a mechanic.  Don’t risk damage of brake calipers, which costs more money to replace.

Many VW and Audi vehicles have brake pad wear sensors that alert the driver when brake pads get below a certain threshold.  However, it is NOT a good idea to rely solely on your vehicle to tell you when brakes need replacement.  A brake inspection during oil service / oil change is the perfect opportunity to see how brake pads and brake discs are wearing.  Pad sensors don’t always pick up abnormal wear !!
